Im here to share my recent experience. I recently had a horrible experience with my wedding lehngas. I ordered two bridal lehngas from anarkali one for my barat from BEAUTY SILK and the other one for mehndi from the different shop (dont remember the name. I ordered these two months back and paid a 40% advance. I would start with the barat lehnga which i ordered from Beauty Silk those claim to be a very professional boutique for high quality bridal wear.
Since I was impressed with bunto kazmi and dr haroon's frill style farshi lehngas THIS --->( http://i43.tinypic.com/selnqd.jpg ) so my main concern was to get just farshi frill style. because my budget was really low (60,000) i do not really wanted to take a risk to copy bunto or dr haroon work. I heard they do, zari, gotta, dabka, mukesh work on it. I just wanted a full heavy shirt and lehnga so I asked him to do his own pattern dabka and stone work on it instead of copying others. He later showed me some borders and pattern work in matte golden i finalized one border and asked him to fill the whole shirt and lehnga with dhabka work. I was confident because i was paying a 60,000 just for only dabka and stone work.
I selected a banarsi jamawar for shirt(Orange), Goot (upper part of lehnga)(Mehndi Green), and for Frill (Red) and krinkle chiffon dupata. SEE IMAGE FOR DETAIL http://i40.tinypic.com/kaigyg.jpg. Fabric was fine I asked him to make a shirt in katan jamawar but he recommended me a chiffon jamawar instead of katan he was like katan would be a stiff fabric for lehnga and shirt. (im not sure if he was right or just saying because katan jamawar was a bit expensive as compared to chiffon jamawar) However we ended up with banarsi jamawar.
I hv been given a time of two months and paid him about 40% advance. i was really scared, excited and waiting for so long. I visited his shop several times in between to confirm and requested him if he can show me samples of work or dupata if work is good or not. He said he cant show me anything.
So yeah, I counted the days and after two months anticipation i got a call from him that my order is ready i ran up to his shop with my mom but got a mini heart attack as soon as he pulled the shirt out of the package after waiting two months what i saw was a disaster, A badly crushed fabric with dull shine and faded orange color shirt with very cheap silver work on. The dress looked nothing like the simple elegance or even a wedding dress. I swear i saw a same work at rung mahal in around 12000 rupees. SEE IMAGE FOR DETAIL : http://i41.tinypic.com/339okz6.jpg
There was nothing like a motive or work on shirt or lehnga he just made a borders on shirt and goot (upper part of lehnga)and filled the rest space with sequins and three pieces of naqshi on every pattern of jamawar print. Many of the key design elements were missing or just done wrong. And later i realised that the measurements were horrifyingly off. He used a very less fabric to made bridal lehnga with this effort he saved his fabric and work too. i was looking more mermaid lehnga instead of farshi lehnga.
I yellad at him that whats that and he replied its the same work i asked for i showed him a picture that i took of work was golden and he replied in iphone every picture turned into golden. It was nothing but a filthy piece of fabric which was badly crushed by careless karigars. When i asked why my shirt has so many black stains on and he shamelessly replied its an ink of chappa (rough pattern of design drawen by karigars to work on) and stain would be clear after the wash so he was expecting me to wash my lehnga before wearing on wedding?
This was what actually occurred with my lehnga though i hated everything about his creation and i had a several issues with it.
1 banarsi jamawar fabric was very cheap quality and after work it was crushed up badly. I can noticed a loose threads too.
2 He made a border in silver instead of matte golden.
3 There was nothing like a work on shirt and lehnga but a small sequins with naqshi everywhere.
4 Size of lehnga was very small like teen age girl's skirt or maybe a mermaid lehnga.
5 Kaam was cheap, stiff, Very paindu khata silver and rough.
6 He worked only at the front of the shirt back was plain.
7 Dubata was good with jaal but it was a machine tilla jaal work not a hand work. There was a only single border of duppata rest 3 borders were plain
and i paid 60,000 for this trash?
I refused to take that lehnga and asked him to refund back my money with the loud and cheap laugh and replied he does not have a refund policy. I cried and went back to home with my mom and later my dad talked to some market union members and they convinced him to give money back or make a good quality lehnga as i was already disappointed and decided to not to get lehnga from him. i asked him to give some ready made party wear and he charged more 4000 ad given me two simples dresses those i can get into 8,000 easily.
Well this is a sad story to conclude do not go anarkali ever now i increased my budget upto 80,000 rupees also planned to provide fabric my own. This time im going dupta gali i went few days back and highly impressed with their work. All i m worried about few things because im not aware of what kind of fabric should i need to. I still want a frill lehnga with heavy long shirt but this time i will use different fabric instead of banarsi jamawar because banarsi jamawar was never turned out great after a work. im thinking about zari if anyone out there can help me to choose fabric i have this kind of fabric in mind (bright and shiney fabric)
because i need your opinions....
1 What kind of fabric should i need to for dubatta, Shirt, Goot, and frill? Im thinking about krinkle chiffon for dubata which can hold heavy work i saw a different quality in krinkle chiffon fabric.
2 Where from in lahore i can get the high quality and orignal banarsi fabric?
3 what would be a size of the lehnga? and how much fabric i need for Goot (upper part of lehnga) and how much for frill?
4 what kind of work would look decent and elegant and would be in my budget?
I want lehnga like this
