Hi girls! My sister in law is getting married in April next year (a year after my own wedding). We will be arriving in Pak about 4-5 weeks before the wedding (which will give me ample time to get something designer made I believe *fingers crossed*). Shopping will be done in Islamabad. However, I am unsure as to what styles I should be considering? Pakistani fashion seems to be all over the place atm (short kameez, long gowns, in between, etc) so I don't know where to look for inspiration. I don't want to wear my own wedding outfits, even though they were stunning, because I want to look different in the pics etc. For her mehndi I was maybe thinking a lehnga or a sharara? Any suggestions (colours, style) for baraat and walima? Pics would be HIGHLY appreciated! Thank you :)

Song to dedicate to my dad
Hey guys,
So I'm getting married in a few months and really want to do a slideshow to dedicate to my dad who passed a way a few years ago. My dad was a happy, fun, and really loving person who always supported me through everything. I want to find ways to remember him at my wedding and so I want create a slideshow with our photos. I need help finding a good song to play during the slideshow. Right now I'm thinking a verse of Main hoon na, and then maybe a verse from Ali Zafar's Jhoom.. I don't know... I'd love to hear your ideas on a good song to dedicate to him. Ideally, I would like to stay away from the typical O I love you daddy songs.
thanks!

No DJ at wedding
So I've opted to not have a DJ at my wedding because we don't have "free dancing" at any point in time (our social circles aren't into that). But there's on AV system in the place...any ideas what places usually rent that stuff out? Confused.

Wedding songs
I know, I know, there's some threads on this already but most of them are old.
Any ideas?
So far, all I know is:
Mayoun - "Sawar Loon" from Lutera
Mehndi - something typical Pakistani/punjabi and upbeat...
I'm thinking of having fiance walk into "jis din mera viya" or "tera hero idhaar hai"
Entrance to nikkah - I want something dramatic with a slower beat...debating between
"Jhoom" by ali zafar
"Chalte Chalte" from Pakeezah (anyone have a faster version...?)
"mein Tenu samjhawan Ki" (the rahat fateh ali khan version...but I don't know if that's too depressing...)
After nikkah - "tum jo aaye zindagi mein" or "ek din aap yun" (I kind of was thinking of this for before the nikkah instead)
I really like "tum jo aaye" but the whole "ishq mazaab , ishq meri zaat" part is kinda bothering me...i don't think they literally mean it's their religion but my fiance's fam is pretty religious and I don't know if it'll ruffle feathers...input?
eeep any ideas? Like I said, I want something more traditional punjabi for the mehndi/mayoun (think shazia mansoor or musarrat nazeer) and then something dramatic and slow-ish that would be good for an entrance for the nikkah ceremony. For after the nikkah, fiance and I will walk in together so something cutesy but not walima-ish necessarily (nothing TOO fast or upbeat...still romantic).
PLEASE PLEASE nothing like "teri ore" or "tum hi ho" or the same 3 songs that everyone's been walking into.

Bidh
Is the whole "wedding favor" thing a modern twist on Bidh? Is Bidh still passed out? Is it done in place of the favors? Whose side does it? I thought the girls side does the wedding favors and my mom said the boys side brings the bidh so that's why I'm unsure.

Presents for Young SILs
Hey Guppies, please help.
My family believes in the whole Punjabi laina daina ritual once baat is pakki and so I'm making a list- or trying to- about what I should get his 2 sisters.
One is 27 and into makeup and fashion.
Second one is 20 and into books and literature.
I've already got them an outfit each but wanted to supplement it with something else like a perfume, makeup palette or book. BUT the problem is that each person has their own taste and I don't want to impose mine on them. Any ideas for neutral presents?

How to re-wearing your barat jewellery?
My barat clothes and jewellery was given to me by my inlaws (My walima clothes and jewellery was from my parents). One of my friends is getting married in a few weeks and I want to wear my barat clothes and jewellery. but my jewellery set is quite large and I don't know which parts to wear, I think if I wear it all, it'll be too much. Maybe i'll just wear the earrings, tikka and jhumar? ....
I also don't know how to wear my hair ... help!!!!

Are "7th square" from Facebook reliable to order dresses from?
Asalamualeikum everyone!
I'm considering to order a couple of formal wears from the Facebook group: "7th square". I haven't ordered from them before. Can anyone tell me about their service? Are they reliable? It's a big risk to take since I need some heavy formal dresses for my siblings wedding functions.

Alhamdulillah all went well-Islamabad/rwp brides
hey girls, you all are getting ready for your big day. here i want to share my experience with you. sorry for being late but been busy in honeymoon and after shadi stuff.
well my bridal dress was designed from fashion ka ghar murree road branch, it turned out amazingly beautiful and veryyyyy reasonable price.
my makeup was by Abbass at Jugnu, the only big problem i faced i have to wait for 5 hours for my turn and they piled up brides like a cattle market.
my venue was at Paragon Marquee, the food and arrangements were awesome.
right now i am looking after for my valima dress as it is on hold till i get my visa and fly to canada. (inshaAllah soon) would appreciate your input for deciding color scheme and new trends for valima dress.
cheers

Decor budget
I know that this varies on a case by case basis but I was curious: how much did you guys spend/plan on spending on decor for the mehndi/wedding? I'm at a COMPLETE loss for what's an "average" number for desi weddings.

Experience with The Court, Karachi
Hey guys!
Newbie here... I've been reading these forums for a while now but figured its time to post since I am actually planning my wedding now for early next year inshallah
Would anyone be kind enough to comment on their experiences or share pictures of the arrangement at The Court Marquee (next to Lal Qila) in Karachi? It is one of the places I am looking at and its very difficult to coordinate everything from abroad so any input would be greatly appreciated!!!
