Fiance and I are planning for a quick honeymoon after our wedding July 18. We have to be back the next friday for work so we're limited to a 4 day trip (I had wanted Maldives...darn).
We're looking at places in the Caribbean since we're flying from the east coast but I'm so overwhelmed by the sheer number of options and was hoping to narrow things down. I tried searching the other threads but that too got super overwhelming.
Our "preferences":
1) RELAXING AND ROMANTIC! Quiet and private. We want to take it easy before we come back and report to the hospital for work 2 days later. My ideal situation would be just to lounge around on the beach/pool and go eat good food and get massages. Snorkeling and maybe shopping.
2) Someplace with a plungepool/private area of the beach where I could wear whatever I want freely without having to worry. I usually wear 1/2 sleeves and full pants so it'd be annoying to have my husband chilling on the beach while I'm stuck on shore with my full clothes.
3) villa/cabana type with all ground level rooms (no 10th story rooms for me!)
4) All inclusive... BUT we don't drink so I don't know if it's worth it.
5) we're both foodies so good food (lots of seafood!)
The biggest problem we're running into is that we have very little time (our walima is on Saturday so we're trying to get back Friday morning/afternoon at the latest), that gives us 4 nights at the most.
Also, it's hurricane season in the Caribbean.:smack:
Any input on nice caribbean locations we could go to? We're open to Mexico as well, as long as it's 1) safe 2) on the eastern part of the country to cut down on travel time.

Hi everyone,
I just joined but I've been reading the blog for a while and it's really helping me plan my wedding. My wedding is in April in Islamabad. We are going from the US to have it and I need some help.
So for the nashta, the day after baraat, I guess my parents are supposed to take it to my in laws house. We are thinking of just inviting them out to brunch instead most likely at gymkhana. Can you guys give me some ideas of cute ways to decorate the area. What about favors? My sisters want to do something cute like the way they do here for rehearsal dinner. Please any ideas would be helpful.

I really need help finding good wedding invites. I like simply yet elegant designs and can be very picky sometimes :X. I'll take any and all sites so I can find the perfect invitations!!!
Also, what do you guys think is a reasonable price for wedding cards (dollars or pounds). I'm from U.S but will be getting married in U.K in the summer, inshaAllah. We need ALOT of cards (like 500) so don't want to spend a fortune but still want really nice ones.

How many wedding events did you have? Just Mehndi, shaadi, walima? Or lots of dholkis and/or a mayoun? Why? Would you change anything?
We were planning on doing a mayoun before the shaadi but with a tight schedule and most guests from out of town we decide to save the $ and just have a Mehndi and shaadi + walima (month later). Most people in our community have a month of celebrations while people in other states I know have just 2 events. Kind of feel like I'm missing out (stupid, I know)
Was just curious how guppans did it. Especially those of you getting married out of town/in grad school/with tight work schedules.

I have been in touch with many online vendors during my wedding shopping last year. Noorz Boutique was one of the first few vendors i had contacted for a designer suit replica.

My sister had just bought an Heritage suit for £350 and i wanted the same for less. Noorz quoted £144 (with delivery and western union charge) for the same producted. I believed it was a bargain and went ahead with the order and since then i have stuck to her services for 3 additionals orders.

I am extremely happy with this dress, the crinkle chiffon used is perfect to support the heavy embroidery.
Second order - Thread and motif replica, i showed picture of from Thread and Motif website :

The dress is even better than the real Thread and Motif as the thread embroidery is stronger. Overall fitting is good , however the dori that links the gown has been placed too low in my opinion and it lookes awkard on my body shape. Not the vendor's fault really.
Third order - a suit that she had made for someone else and copied from a picture , i asked for colors to be altered :

The heavy work on the neck is just wow and very solid: No risk of falling stones or loose dubka thread. I was highly impressed when i saw the dress in real. the only issue was that the work was too wide spread and so the dress fitting against my trunk was extremly loose. My measurement should have been considered while sketching the neck embroidery design. It still looked very nice after i pinned it at the back.
Fourth order - I designed it myself and she advised me on the fabric and embroidery when needed :

I wanted the dress to have a vintage look with very old type of dubka embroidery and sequence spread with colourful thread embroidery for this design. It was very hard to explain. Noorz is excellent at making copies, but this was a fresh design that i had in mind with no pictures but only poorly drawn sketch on a piece of paper. The material had to be raw silk and i was very nervous on not getting the right fabric. I knew i wanted shoulder embroidery and a jhaal at the bottom of my kameez. Noorz suggested few jhaal design to me. When i received the first few pictures of the making of the dress, i wasnt to keen. Colors looked odd and it wasnt as impressive but she was being very helpful in the designing suggestions Even after completion, the final pictures i received were good, but didnt have that vintage and exclusive look i was after. But, when i finally received the parcel, few days after my marriage and at my in laws place, i must tell you that it turned out to be the best dress out of the four orders ! It has been the most appreciated dress by my relatives. All have praised the 'vintage' look and the quality of the work. I still think the dress does not look great in pictures unless taken in good lighting. The raw silk material is divine and sits perfectly on the body.
Quotes/Charges
1st order = rps 24,000
2nd order = rps 21,500
3rd order = rps 23,500
4rd order = rps 26,000
She is expensive, not doubt, but if you have the money, she is worth it. She doesnt negotiate much and is very strict with her quotes.
Quality of the work
Brilliant! No compromises here. Pcitures are sent for fabric color swach, when in work process and after stiching.
Client services A dress is typically ready in 35 days from the day she receives the payment. Payment is 100% in advance so this could put off a lot of new customers or those who wish to order bridals from her. I myself didn’t go ahead with my bridal order because of this 100% advance policy. She keep good and constant contact with the client day and night. Extremely hard working lady! She can appear rude and blunt at times. Maybe she wants to avoid fake promises or she is really not ready to compromise on her quoted prices as she ensure best quality of work. Delivery is made on time. She kindly enquires about feedback after delivery and isn’t too defensive if the feedback is not 100% positive.

Hello everybody
I finally have had my bat pakkied and may be having a small engagement ceremony next month possibly.
My fiance is in Pakistan and most of our family also. The engagement will be at my house and we will have immediate family only which would include his brother and sister and a couple of neices and nephews.
My sister in law and I have decided that I would like the suit to be presented from their side however she has given me the choice to buy whatever I want. The suit she has sort of selected in red. The suit itself is nice and not too heavy - not too light but it looks bridal in the sense that red is a bridal colour. It has silver kaam on it. I'm not too sure about the colour.
Last year, it was light colours even for engagement --whats in this year? What colours are in season? I don't want to go over - I want a nice simple elegant look, mostly for the pictures.

For an upcoming wedding event it was decided that we would coordinate our outfits.
There are two ways this can be done:
A. We all have the same two colors in our outfits.
B. We all share one color but each have our own 2nd color.
The outfits will not the same design/style.
So what would be the best?
Opinions needed and appreciated. We have argued and debated way too long about this, need another perspective. (Sad I know.....first world problems :hinna: )
